Before his arrest Jesus lifts his eyes to heaven and prays out loud to his Father in heaven. This prayer provides a window into the glory of God in our salvation, and our triune God’s ongoing faithfulness to his covenant people.
The most important person to know is Jesus Christ. In the seven I AM statements of Jesus found in John’s gospel Jesus reveals in a multifaceted manner who he is for us and this world.
Faith in the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ doesn’t just mean that our sin has come to an end, but even more so, that our life has a new beginning. We are risen with him and therefore the life we live in the body is now a new, resurrected life in Christ.
In the Book of Exodus, the God of glory demonstrates his steadfast love for his covenant people. God saves his people for his glory and prepares his people for his lasting presence among them. And in so doing, the Book of Exodus helps the people of God in every generation to know God: his qualities, his character, and his will for his people and this world.
As Christians, we often think of what we are saved FROM – our sin, guilt, condemnation, Hell, etc. But the gospel produces a far more positive work in us. God doesn’t just save us FROM a guilty past, but he saves us FOR a good present and future. This sermon series delves into some of the positive realities that salvation brings into our lives.
