1 Timothy: The Church of the Living God

First Timothy is a letter from the apostle Paul to Timothy, a young pastor charged with leading the church in Ephesus. False teaching had taken root, and Paul writes to restore order and truth. He calls the church "the household of God, which is the church of the living God, a pillar and buttress of the truth" (1 Timothy 3:15). The letter addresses sound doctrine, public worship and prayer, the qualifications of elders and deacons, care for widows, the dangers of wealth, and the pastor's charge to guard the gospel and fight the good fight of faith.
