The Plague of a Hardened Heart

Passage: Exodus 7:1-5

Preacher: Mark Middlekauff

Series: Exodus: Saved for Glory

Keywords: hardness, heart, supremacy

Book: Exodus

Summary:

When the Bible speaks of our hearts it does not mean our emotions, but rather the inner person where one reasons and thinks and decides. And the problem we share as humans is that, by nature, our hearts are hard toward God and his ways. The many plagues in Exodus 7 – 9 are meant to demonstrate the supremacy and glory of God above all other god-substitutes. And as we witness the further hardening of Pharaoh’s heart, it is meant to soften ours.
