The True Good Samaritan

Passage: The Gospel According to Luke Luke 10:25-37

Preacher: David Richter

Series: Guest Preachers

Keywords: mercy, grace, neighbor love

Book: The Gospel According to Luke

Summary:

The parable of the Good Samaritan is often reduced to a simple command to be kind and help people in need. But Jesus tells this story to a man who is trying to justify himself before God. The parable exposes the breathtaking demand of God’s command to love, confronts our inability to save ourselves, and ultimately points us to the mercy of Jesus—the true Good Samaritan. Only after receiving his mercy can we hear Jesus’ words, “Go and do likewise,” as the fruit of grace rather than a means of earning it.
