When Jesus stoops to wash his disciples’ feet, Peter says, “No way. You will never wash my feet.” Peter underestimated his ongoing need of God’s grace, and how only Jesus can daily cleanse him daily. We too, like Peter, tend to recoil at Jesus stooping to address our ongoing need of grace. But Jesus the Servant King knows best how to serve us. He loves us to the end so that we may come alive in his love and live it out.
