Summary:

Most people when asked if God is loving quickly respond with ‘yes.’ But when asked if God is angry, they just a quickly say ‘no.’ In this passage Paul proclaims that God is in fact angry; a loving God must be angry at the world he sees. His words are meant to prepare us to receive the gospel as truly "good news."
